The far south of Madagascar, a safari here offers a gorgeously hot climate for most of the year, and it is here that the inhabitants of the ‘Spiny Forest’ that you have come to see live and thrive.
Ideal access to the south is by private charter plane allowing for effortless entry to the area, and ensures that you avoid the typically long road trips and inconsistent domestic flight schedules. Both camps used by Mammoth Safaris here have airfields that are close by and easily accessible. The Mandrare River remains a wide sandy riverbed for most of the year and although there is evidence of hippo having lived on Madagascar, there are none now, but there is plenty more to enjoy! The focus of activity is on walking the riverine and spiny forests, both day and night with exceptional opportunity to see the resident wildlife.
