Tanzania is blessed with a wonderful Indian Ocean coastline, the ancient Eastern Arc forested mountains, Rift Valley lakes and the incomparable savannas of Serengeti and Selous. Add the high peaks of Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru and you have more on offer than you can handle! The rich cultural diversity in Swahili country adds to the flavour of any journey to this truly beautiful country.
Without a doubt the top attractions in Tanzania are the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater and the spectacle of the great wildebeest migration in the Serengeti. Timing is everything with the wildebeest, so careful trip planning works around the animals and everything else falls around that. There is a good variety of accommodation options and activities. Safaris in less traversed parks like Selous and Ruaha are also exceptionally rewarding. It is easy to construct a bush and beach safari with the spice island of Zanzibar being very close to Dar es Salaam, allowing for easy flight connections with the various national parks.
There are many other gems in Tanzania, tucked into areas away from the crowds on private concessions and parks. These include Arusha, Katavi and Mahale that simply get less coverage, but offer wonderful safari options.

Our family safari to Tanzania was quite simply perfect! Thanks so much to Alastair and his wonderful Mammoth team for putting it all together from the first day we emailed him our enquiry knowing nothing other than we wanted to enjoy a world-class safari. That was delivered, and then some. We now feel like safari experts and can’t wait to do it again…
