Ruzizi Tented Lodge – Akagera National Park
With the reintroduction of lion and imminent arrival of Black Rhino in the park, Ruzizi Tented Lodge is well situated to experience Rwanda’s only Big 5 safari as well as all of Akagera’s fantastic diversity.The lodge is set in woodland on the banks of a swamp-fringed lake. As a park-owned lodge, all profits go back into the management of the entire park. As well as enjoying their stay, guests can know that they are contributing to the long-term sustainability of Akagera National Park through funding of law enforcement activities, community engagement and conservation initiatives. A family tent and a luxury Tree Top Tent have been added in recent times.
Lions return to Akagera National Park
The seven lions translocated by African Parks, in conjunction with the Rwanda Development Board, from South Africa to Akagera National Park arrived safely in the park, late on Tuesday night. They were immediately released into a specially erected 1,000m� boma, the perimeter of which includes a three-metre high, chain-linked electrified fence The two males and five females are being quarantined in the boma for a minimum of 14 days after which they will be released into the wilderness of the park. They are being continually monitored by the Akagera park team.
